1. Who we are

TechChowk Pvt. Ltd. ("TechChowk", "we", "us", "our") builds ERP, CRM, website and practice-management software, offers business apps (some free, some paid), and provides digital marketing services. This policy explains what personal data we collect through techchowk.com (the "Website") and our apps and services, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the rules made under them. Where this policy says "personal data", it means any data about an individual who can be identified by or in relation to that data.

2. What this policy covers

AreaOur role
The Website and its contact formWe decide why and how the data is used (Data Fiduciary).
Enquiries, demos, sales and supportData Fiduciary
Digital marketing engagementsData Fiduciary for your account and contact details; we follow your instructions for any customer data you share with us for campaigns.
Data your business stores inside our apps (for example, CA CoWork client records, CRM leads, invoices, payroll)We act on your instructions (Data Processor). Your business is responsible for having a lawful basis to collect that data and for informing the individuals concerned.

This policy does not cover third-party websites that we link to.

3. Personal data we collect

3.1 Data you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address and the message you write.
  • Demo, quote and early-access requests: name, business name, email, phone number, and details about your requirements.
  • Seller applications (marketplace): name, work email and a description of what you have built.
  • Customers of our apps and services: account details (name, email, phone, firm or business name, firm code), billing details (billing name, address, GSTIN, state), and support conversations.
  • Digital marketing clients: business details, access to ad, analytics and social accounts that you grant us, and campaign content.

3.2 Data collected automatically

  • Usage and device data through Google Tag Manager and the analytics and advertising tools it loads (see Section 8): pages viewed, approximate location (city/region, derived from IP address), device and browser type, referring site, and how you interact with pages.
  • Server and security logs kept by our hosting provider: IP address, request time and the page requested.

3.3 Data stored in your browser

For two conveniences, we use your browser's local storage rather than cookies:

KeyPurpose
tc-themeRemembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
tc-announce-dismissedRemembers that you closed the announcement bar.

These stay on your device and are never sent to us. The analytics and advertising tools described in Section 8 set their own cookies.

3.4 Data inside our apps

When your business uses our apps, you may store personal data about your own customers, clients or employees, such as names, contact details, PAN, TAN, GSTIN, Digital Signature Certificate details, attendance and salary records. We process this data only to provide the app to you, as described in Section 2.

3.5 Our mobile apps

Our apps are also available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. As well as the account and app data described above, the mobile apps may collect:

  • Device information: device model, operating system and app version, and a device identifier, used to keep you signed in, fix crashes and deliver notifications.
  • Notification token, if you allow notifications.
  • Location, only for features that need it, such as attendance check-in, and only while you use that feature. The app uses Google's location services to work out your position.
  • Camera and photos, only when you choose to take or upload a photo or document, such as a receipt or profile picture.
  • Phone storage, to save pictures and documents to your phone when you choose to, such as a downloaded invoice or certificate, and to pick files you want to upload.

The app asks for your permission before it uses location, the camera, your photos, your phone's storage or notifications. Files the app saves to your phone stay on your phone; we do not read other files on your device. You can turn any permission off at any time in your phone's settings; the feature that needs it will stop working, but the rest of the app will not. We do not sell mobile app data or use it for advertising.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We do not take online payments yet. If we add a payment gateway or a WhatsApp, SMS or bulk-email provider, we will add it to this list before we start using it.

We may also disclose personal data if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data).

7. Transfers outside India

Our apps and the data inside them are hosted on a Hostinger VPS located outside India, and other service providers, such as Vercel, Google, Meta and Microsoft, may also store or process data on servers outside India. Where this happens, we transfer data only as permitted under the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India, and we choose providers that apply appropriate security safeguards.

8. Cookies, analytics and advertising

The Website uses Google Tag Manager to load the following tools, which set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser:

ToolWhat it does
Google AnalyticsCounts visits and shows which pages people use
Google AdsMeasures whether our ads lead to enquiries, and may show our ads to people who have visited the Website
Meta PixelMeasures our Facebook and Instagram ads, and may show our ads to people who have visited the Website
Microsoft ClarityRecords clicks, scrolling and anonymised session replays so we can see where the Website is confusing; text you type in forms is masked

These tools only see how you use the Website. They never receive data stored inside our apps.

To limit them, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and manage ads in Google Ad Settings and Meta ad preferences. Blocking these cookies does not stop the Website from working.

9. How long we keep personal data

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

10. How we protect personal data

We use reasonable security safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls so staff see only the data they need, separate workspaces for each firm using our apps, and credentials kept in secure environment settings rather than in our code. No system is completely secure; if a personal data breach occurs, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected individuals as required by the DPDP Act.

11. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase data that is no longer needed, unless we must keep it by law.
  • Withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect processing already done, but we may no longer be able to provide some services.
  • Nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated.
  • Raise a grievance with us and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

To use any of these rights, email admin@techchowk.com with the subject "Privacy request". We may ask you to confirm your identity. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Deleting your account: email admin@techchowk.com from your registered email address with the subject "Delete my account", or ask your firm's administrator. We delete your account and its personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as billing and tax records. If you are a staff member of a firm using our apps, deleting your login does not delete the firm's own records about its work.

If your request is about data a business stores in one of our apps (for example, your CA firm's records), please contact that business directly; we will help them respond.
